Does the ABC grant cover my monthly broadband bills?

No. The grant covers installation and equipment costs only. Your ongoing monthly subscription is not funded by the scheme.

Can a business and a home at the same address both apply?

No. The grant is awarded per premises, not per occupant. Only one application per address is permitted.

Can I choose any broadband provider or technology?

Yes, provided the solution delivers a minimum of 30Mbps download speed after installation. This includes fixed wireless, 4G/5G, and satellite broadband such as Starlink.

Has the Access Broadband Cymru scheme been paused before?

What Is the Access Broadband Cymru Grant?

The Access Broadband Cymru (ABC) scheme is a Welsh Government initiative designed to bring fast, reliable internet to homes, businesses and community organisations across Wales that currently suffer from slow or unusable broadband.
The grant covers the installation costs of getting you connected — not your monthly bills — and is available to properties that cannot currently achieve adequate speeds through standard commercial services.

Who Can Apply?

The scheme is open to:

Homeowners and residents in Wales with poor broadband speeds
Businesses and enterprises struggling with slow connectivity
Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations such as charities, community halls and clubs

To be eligible, your premises must currently receive download speeds below 30Mbps, and the new connection must at least double your existing speeds.

How Much Funding Is Available?

Up to £800 per premises is available to fund the installation and equipment costs of a new broadband connection. The grant does not cover ongoing monthly costs.
